Welcome back!

Day 3: Radical Self Care — Nourishment for Body, Mind, and Soul

Radical self care has a component of intention that goes beyond simple self care. For many of us, caring for ourselves in the simplest ways can be radical. You know, like drinking 6 – 8 glasses of water a day. We must keep the body hydrated, but do we? Countless numbers of people forget and go around dehydrated, which makes them groggy, grumpy, forgetful, and lethargic.

What about exercise — even walking for 20 minutes a day? Or paying attention to our sleep habits and becoming mindful about the food we are putting into our mouths?

Megan Edge, my healer and spiritual guide, makes this distinction between self care and radical self care. She says, “Self care includes things you do to make yourself feel better. Radical self care is something you do to honour yourself and to hold yourself sacred.”

Today I am going to name many self care principles. What makes it radical is that I am going to ask you to implement at least one thing each day for the rest of the challenge that you haven’t been doing and do it as a conscious act of honouring yourself and holding yourself sacred.

Now, let’s meditate.

In preparation for this guided meditation that will invite you into a heart-space for writing, please gather your journal or notebook, pen, and a glass of water and put them beside you, ready to hydrate and write when the meditation is over.

So, journal and pen ready. Please get yourself comfortable. Make sure you’ll be undisturbed for the next 30 minutes. Here’s today’s meditation:

Action step:
Take a drink of water, set your timer for 10 minutes, and Write Where You Are. “When I am being fully honest with myself, the nourishment that my body, mind, and soul call for is…”

Action step: Go to our Facebook group and share your aha moments, and read and respond to the others taking this journey alongside you.

Action step: Decide now to choose one or more self-care practices and be radical! Put them into action this week. Share in our Facebook group which one (s) you are choosing. Stating it out loud has a lot of power. And remember, you are not alone. You have me and your Challenge community members championing you all the way!

See you in the group, and see you back in your inbox tomorrow!

All blessings,
Junie
